श्रीवत्सविग्रहजुषः प्रकृतेस्त्वदीयं वक्षः परीतमिव सत्त्वरजस्तमोभिः॥७१॥
T: Oh, Lord, Your chest is illumined in three ways - from the rays emanating from Your lotus navel, the lustre of the Kaustubha gem, and the glow coming from Your entire form. It seems Your form also known as Śrīvatsa (beloved of the goddess of prosperity) is lit up from the three aspects of Nature or Prakṛti viz. Sattva, rajas and Tamas around it.
Explanation: The three aspects of Prakṛti or the Lord's active manifestation in Nature that pervades all creation in different ways are- Sattva (Purity), Rajas (Passion) and Tamas (Sloth). They are associated with white, red and black colours, too. The Lord's navel is a white lotus emanating the Sattva light. The Kaustubha gem is red in colour and emanates the light of Rajas. The Lord's overall form is darkish like a cloud, and one can say it emits the glow of Tamas. All the three are casting the respective aspects of light on the Lord's chest here- like the three aspects of Prakṛti, opines the poet. This is Utprekṣā.
