T: Oh, the four-armed Lord Śrī Varadarāja, the leader of the Yadu clan when You are Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the outer space did not arise from Your navel. Because Your navel arose from that space. It appears that the case endings in the Vedic statement नाभ्या असीदन्तरिक्षम् are inverted. These statements are followed even by Jaimini when he says पशोश्च etc.
Explanation: The middle of the Lord's torso is expansive and subtle. So it is often described by mystic poets as अन्तरिक्ष outer space, in the middle of the navel. So the poet says that the Lord's navel comes from outer space. But what about the assertion in the exalted Puruṣasūktam, नाभ्या आसिइदन्तरिक्षम् - outer space in creation emerged from the Lord's navel? This contradicts the poet's view here! The poet proposes that we interchange the case endings to mean, " the Lord's navel emerged from outer space." He also advances the argument that Jaimini has explained in his Mīmāmsā the Vedic assertion: पशोश्च विप्रकर्षस्तन्मध्ये विधानात् which is recast with a different case ending by commentators as विप्रकर्षात् to secure a better understanding. The poet wants to follow suit and recast even the Puruṣasūktam statement! We must understand that the basis for the poet's imagination is his perceiving the middle torso of Lord Śrī Varadarāja as very subtle and beyond our grasp like outer space. This is a poetic licence indeed.
