Happy Navaratri!

Happy season of prayer and celebration,
Dolls and decoration,
eats,  fasts and feasts!
Clothes, dances and music.

The time to worship God as Mother is around. There is a powerful paradigm for us who worship Lakshmi,  Sarasvati and Durga, of the mother who creates,  protects,  and destroys. She is everything.

The photo here is from Bolivia:

Mother Earth. An idea that makes so much sense.
Born of her, she gives our first and last touch. She gives nourishment, strength, and inspiration.

We worship her every moment. Or desecrate her mindlessly.

She is of course the one with the last laugh. Her slightest tremor causes the most devastating earthquakes. Her tears cause floods. Her dry eye makes for drought. Her smile is a field of flowers,  a forest of trees, an orchard of fruits and an endless cornucopia.

Let us celebrate Mother Earth.

Now I have a serious question. In all my explorations,  I have not come across anyone who has met and worshipped mother earth. I want to know if you have seen in any mythology or divine narrative or a saint's biography, any event of mother earth giving a vision or boon to any man in person. There is Bhudevi in Vishnu purana. She comes also in the Varaha Avatara She is the mother of Sita. But I want to know of any saint or man who has had a vision or experience of Mother Earth or Bhudevi.

Please tell me.

Happy Navaratri!

MS Subbulakshmi singing to veena accompaniment

This is a beautiful rendition. It appears that she is singing while playing the veena. What a great musician!
