Shloka 45 - Sri Varadarajastava

मातङ्गशैलमणिशेखर ते पदाभ्यां मोहेन साम्यमनुचिन्त्य कृतापराधम् ।

शङ्के सरोजमनयोरुभयोरुपेत्य रेखाच्छलेन सततं विदधाति सेवाम् ॥४५॥

T: Oh, Lord Śrī Varadarāja, resplendent like the bejewelled gem-studded peak atop the Elephant Hill, the lotus flower is indeed culpable for having imagined itself to be comparable to Your feet. But then, the lotus thought of atoning itself, and became lotus marks on Your feet! That act of devotion redeems the lotus, in my opinion.

Explanation: According to the astrology of body marks, in the feet of great souls, there are lotus marks. That lotus mark indicates divinity associated with the lotus. So the poet is now articulating that the lotus marks on Lord Śrī Varadarāja's feet are indeed a continual act of contrition and atonement by the lotus after it audaciously compared itself to the Lord's feet!

Translation
Oh, Lord resplendent like a gem and jewel peak atop the Elephant Hill, the lotus is culpable for having imagined itself comparable in beauty and glory to Your feet. And now, I think, the lotus is making amends by contriving to place itself as lotus marks on Your feet in a continual act of servitude!
