आपूरितत्रिभुवनोदरमंशुजालं मन्ये महेन्द्रमणिबृन्दमनोहरं ते ।
त्वद्रागदीपितहृदां त्वरितं वधूनां प्राप्ते सरित्सहचरं प्रलयेऽभिवृद्धम् ॥२६॥
T: Oh, Lord Śrī Varadarāja, Your form is like a beautiful heap of brilliant celestial gems like Indranīla and fills the three worlds with Your lustrous glow; thus, when great love for Your form is invoked in their hearts, damsels experience a feeling resembling the final oceanic surge of dissolution, "Pralaya".
Explanation: The word "Pralaya" has two meanings. The well-known meaning is the final dissolution of the world. When that occurs, all the oceans surge and submerge all earth, as the Purāṇas state. There is a second meaning adduced in the Nāṭyaśāstra, describing the state of Sāttvika Bhāva. प्रलयो नष्टचेतसा (Pralayo naṣṭacetasā), as it is described. When one is overwhelmed by love, all one's senses and organs cease functioning in a Pralaya transfixion. In the final culmination of Bhakti, when the devotee is overwhelmed by the love for the Lord, his mind is in a state of Pralaya. The poet says here in Utprekṣā that the surge of the ocean we experience is the divine form of Lord Śrī Varadarāja which glows like a beautiful heap of brilliant celestial gems like Indranīla. (The ocean is called Ratnākara in Sanskrit meaning the treasure chest of celestial gems.)

of creation, to fill them with lustre like the attractive heap of celestial gems like Indranīla.
When the damsels' hearts are inflamed with love for You, in a sudden deluge of Pralaya,
their reactions are like the surging waves of the ocean. |
