॥ ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय ॥
भवजलधिगतानां द्वन्द्ववाताहतानां सुतदुहितृकलत्रत्राणभारार्दितानां
विषमविषयतोये मज्जतामप्लवानां भवतु शरणमेको विष्णुपोतो नराणाम् ॥१२॥
Translation: For all of us humans, drowned in the ocean of worldliness, buffetted by strong waves of likes and dislikes, tortured by the weight of carrying the sons, daughters and wives through life, repeatedly sinking in the waters of deadly sense-attractions, without any boat to cross, indeed there SHALL BE one saviour when we surrender to the boat called Bhagavān Viṣṇu!
Notes: Only for someone who has never beheld the frightening immensity of an ocean, is this metaphor difficult to understand. The ocean has always held a fatal fascination for man. The first step to cross the ocean is a boat. When someone is lost and drowning in a titanic ocean, that too burdened by worldly bonds, attracted to senses, buffeted by pain and pleasure, is there any hope of survival, let alone of getting across? Yes, emphatically Yes, says Kulaśekhara. It is none other than Bhagavān Viṣṇu. This is a powerful message. There is no hope in this world other than Bhagavān.
One of the Dhyānaślokas of ŚrīmadBhagavadgītā is this:
भीष्मद्रोणतटा जयद्रथजला गान्धारनीलोत्पला शल्यग्राहवती कृपेण वहनी कर्णेन वेलाकुला ।
अश्वत्थामविकर्नघोरमकरा दुर्योधनावर्तिनी उत्तीर्णा खलु पाण्डवै रणनदी कैवर्तकः केशवः ॥
The deadly murderous river flanked by Bhīṣma and Droṇa (who appeared impartial but served Duryodhana), the waters of Jayadratha who killed Abhimanyu against rules of war, Śakuni the deceiver blue lotus, infested by the crocodile called Śalya(betrayer), Kṛpa the force of flow, agitated by huge waves called Karṇa, deadly sharks called Aśvatthāma and Vikarna, with whirlpool called Duryodhana- even that river was indeed crossed by Pāṇḍavas, was it not, just because their boatman was none other than Keśava!?! Nothing is impossible for one surrendered to Bhagavān!
