॥ वन्देऽहं रासकेलीरतमतिसुभगं वश्यगोपालकृष्णम् ॥
Hare Krishna!
आभ्यां विलोचनाभ्या-
मम्बुजदलललितलोचनं बालम् ।
द्वाभ्यामपि परिरब्धुं
दूरे मम हन्त दैवसामग्री ॥ १.४३ ॥
Meaning: Alas! To set upon the tender form delicate like lotus leaves of dear boy Lord Śrīkṛṣṇa, with these two eyes of mine, to embrace him with my eyes, seems well nigh impossible for my luck seems too far away!
Here the poet is saying, "Come on. I have these two very capable eyes. And here is the boy Lord Śrīkṛṣṇa! I also desire so much to set my eyes on Him. Thus, when all conditions (equipment, desire, opportunity) seem ideal, what's missing? Good luck! That is far beyond my reach! So this paradox of my failure even when all conditions are met can be explained only by my lack of good fortune. Alas! In whom do we disclose our eternal longing for Lord Śrīkṛṣṇa, from whom do we seek advice? Oh! Those blessed ones! Tell us how we can actualise our heart-felt desire and witness with our physical eyes the Lord resting in our hearts, the sweet, sweet form that is the embodiment of the God of Love creating a festival of delight in our mind's eye!
