The progeny of Pururavas through his other sons extended many royal lines, including the ones that ruled the famous kingdom of Kashi. One of them was the Amsha AAvatara of Bhagavan Maha Vishnu, Lord Dhanvantari himself!
Sage Shuka says:
काश्यस्य काशिस्तत्पुत्रो राष्ट्रो दीर्घतम:पिता ।
धन्वन्तरिर्दीर्घतमस आयुर्वेदप्रवर्तक: ।
यज्ञभुग् वासुदेवांश: स्मृतमात्रार्तिनाशन: ॥
T: "The son of King Kashya was Kashi, and his son was Rashtra. His son was Dirghatama, whose son was Dhanvantari. Dhanvantari was the originator of the science of Ayurveda. He receives oblations during Yajnas to this day, as the Amsha Avatara of Bhagavan Vasudeva. His very remembrance dispels disease!"
सङ्कृतिस्तस्य च जयः क्षत्रधर्मा महारथः ।
क्षत्रवृद्धान्वया भूपा शृणु वंशं च नाहुषात् ॥
T: "King Sankruti had a son by the name of Jaya. He was famed for his Kshatriya prowess and as a great warrior. That line continued and I shall now narrate to you the lineage under the famed king Nahusha."
