Ant and a piece of sugar

There is an eternal affinity between the ant and a piece of sugar. People will tell you, however hard they try to hide sugar from ants, they will always find their way and find the piece of sugar.

What makes us hide sugar? We hide because we don't want ants to eat away our sugar.

Today is Guru Purnima. The Guru gets the student who is seeking on to the right path and leads him or her to freedom. It is like the ant picks up the piece of sugar wherever it might be.

Sugar is the metaphor for seeking.

The sugar is intrinsically sweet but makes no sense unless it is eaten, and the best one to find that piece of sugar and eat it is the ant.

The ant is relentless. The ant is tireless. The ant is creative. The ant seems to have extra sensory perception that drives it to find the piece of sugar. That is how God made the Guru. God wants us who are intrinsically sweet to find liberation. That is why he sent the Guru to find us and take us to freedom.
