॥ ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय ॥
इदं शरीरं परिणामपेशलं पतत्यवश्यं श्लतसन्धिजर्जरम् ।
किमौषधैः क्लिश्यसि मूढदुर्मते निरामयं कृष्णरसायनं पिब ॥३१॥
Translation: Oh, Dull and Perverted Mind! This body is, after all, definitely subject to continuous decay, with loosening joints and beaten by age, wear and tear, and so bound to fall one day. So why do you torment it with medicines in the hope of defeating Nature? Better that you constantly drink in the nectar of Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa's name that has no deleterious effects!
Notes: This verse has to be understood well. The poet is not against a healthy body which will surely serve him in his devotional life. He is also not against medicines and cures. He just reminds himself that labouring to avert disease and old age as the sole purpose of life is stupid. One should prioritise the life of prayer as it confers the supreme state of bliss through that infallible concoction called the Lord's name!
